MY FAMILY...PARENTS, SIBLINGS AND OTHERS

My parents, John & Barbara Schneider is a very special part of my life. Through the good and the bad they have stood by my side.

My mother...let me see, she is my strength..she always knows the right thing to say and when to say it. Ok, she also knows how to get to me....but that is ok, what are mothers for.

My father, a strong, loving man and as one of my grandson's says..."Dede has a big hand" There are two songs that make me think of my daddy.."Daddy's Hands" by Holly Dunn and "To A Sleeping Beauty" by Jimmy Dean.

My parents were married on October 29, 1952. They had three children, including me, all born in Houston, Texas. John C. Schneider, III - born on February 27, 1954, Me, Karen Kay Schnedier - born on June 3, 1956 and Elizabeth Ann Schneider (Our Beth Ann) born on May 25, 1958.

John graduated from John Marshall High School in 1972. He was President of the Senior Class. He married Lora Kumpf on August 18, 1973. They have two children John Christopher Schneider (Chris) and Justin Charles Schneider. They also have one grandson, John Clayton Schneider born on December 10, 1998. Let me see, Johnny has always been special to me. My big brother. We fought like most brothers and sisters, but I know if I ever need him he will be there.

Beth Ann was a very instrumental part of our lives. She had cerebral palsy. Beth Ann was only with us 6 years as she passed away on October 2, 1964. My fondest memories of Beth Ann are lying on a pallet laughing at me as I play around her. God gave us Beth Ann to make us stronger and it worked. Our lives were forever touched by God's gift to us in the form of Beth Ann

I also had a half brother, Bruce C. Schneider. Bruce was my father's son from his first marriage. Bruce passed away at the age of 21.

As you can see my family, although small was filled with love. Having had two siblings that passed away, has only strenghten our bond. My hope for all families is the LOVE, UNDERSTANDING, KINDNESS AND TRUST IN GOD.

One of my mother's favorite sayings is: "God will never give a person more than he can handle." I sometimes question that statement but then I also know that with God's help all things are possible.
